I think it is just an LBV made in Afghanistan, not a prototype. Made in a tailor shop or something, made from whatever bits and bobs they had around.

The other pictures above show the vests with similar characteristics as the vest posted here. However those appeared to be different models. I recently found a picture of this exact model of vest being worn.

Great reference photos Arch. On the last one it looks like there may be a plate in the rear pouch. A very unusual place for it.
