I read a news article somewhere the other day that told of an Afghan Army sergeant getting into a fist fight with a newly-assigned private who didn't want to wake up to go on patrol. By watching the above videos, it can be said they've indeed come a long way since their formation, but that other report shows they've still got quite a long way to go.

I too wish them all the luck in the world; they've certainly got the right amount of motivation to be excellent soldiers.

Don't underestimate the Afghans. When the Soviets pulled out of Afghanistan they left a very weak regime and army behind them, and the world kind of expected Kabul to fall within days. But they actually managed to keep control and improve until the Soviet Union collapsed and their weapons, money and other supplies disappeared. Something tells me that the USA and the UK won't collaps after they pull out.
