I have a nearly identical pistol as the pair you have posted. Mine came from the bazaar at Bagram AFB. They retailed for about $80-100 in 2010.

It came with a letter of determination from the ATF Resident Agent in Bagram that is qualifies as an antique (which was needed to mail it back home by the person who shipped it to me), however, it is most likely a post-9/11 reproduction using old appearing materials and craftsmanship. Mine sits on a shelf in the guest room. Cool item with neat origins, regardless of age. I'll get a picture of sometime this week.

I figured they were souvenir quality for the "tourist market", but I thought they were still pretty nifty.

Yes as stated they are the local made copies. Quality of these varied, some were poor and others were top quality repros, prices rose as the coalition started its drawdown. The Gandamak in Kabul had the best range of items for sale that I saw, he did have copies but also some really nice original pieces including an MG 34.
