Another Reproduction Fedayeen Helmet Empty Another Reproduction Fedayeen Helmet

I decided to post this Reproduction Feda'yeen Helmet from Italy so some one else doesn't get burned.
One of the collectors on the original Iraqi Militaria Forum had sent me some pictures of a helmet he was in the process
of purchasing on eBay. I went through his pictures and noticed the webbing was incorrect and the chin strap was incorrect and
it looked like a U.S. made set.
The outside looked o.k. although the rivets had a "smashed" look to them. It had the white fiberglass showing through the black color in spots.
Then I noticed the one big thing that made a difference.
I'll save that to the end.
Original helmet above. Notice the front rivet on the reproduction is "flattened" out.

Rear view. Original on top. Notice again the flattened looking rivets on the reproduction.

Side of helmet. Original on top. Again, notice the smashed looking rivet below the badge.

Check out the differences in the brim inside. The original is on the top and much smoother.

The rivets and attachment device in the original helmet on top.
The reproduction rivets go through the helmet and the webbing.

Thanks for pointing out the flaws! A non-removable liner is the best give-away. These repo's are getting better. Usually the chi strap is the other give-away. Tom

Some how I lost these last two pictures so have to do them again.
The original is on the top and has a "channel" circled by a white string.
THE REPRODUCTION DOES NOT HAVE THIS "CHANNEL". This is the main thing to look for.
This helmet is sold in Italy as a reproduction and reproduction only.
The inside of the reproduction is much whiter in color and has more of the fiberglass showing.

Tom, Thanks for the comment. You are right, the repro's are getting better.

This is not my area in any way, shape or form; but great information here guys. Thanks so much for posting and educating us all. This is invaluable information for future collectors.

    Thread pinned!
