French FELIN T-3 Uniform

I am posting the FELIN T-3 uniform which has been made with the same F-2
fabric and which was introduced in Afghanistan by September 2008.

In February and March 2009, further to veterans experiences at their return from the conflict (RetEx program) the SCA (Service du Comissariat des Armées) launched the production of a new generation uniform, the T-4/ followed by the T-4/2. This last model shall be put in place this year.

This set was belonging to a man from the French Foreign Legion who served 12 years in the 2.REI and 9 years in the 2.REG.

So, it is a bit like a F-2 uniform with four patch pockets and two zipped pockets on the front. No inner pocket. A drawstring inside. A long patch pocket on the back. Reinforced elbows with for each a velcro fastening, etc..

It looks like to the smock Guerrila jacket, isn't it?? Same cut, same slant pocket, anyway, very nice jacket and I m sure it s more comfortable as your old one

Nice uniform! Interesting how the smock's design is very similar to the current-issue British windproofs. It is a very good design, however.
I've always liked the French camouflage but have never gotten myself a set. I really need to change that!

Now yes you need, French army seems to make a big effort on their uniform and the result is great.

British jacket is a very good design and it seems that the use of the Guerilla Opex uniform by some French units led the way to big improvments in the SCA' reaction to consider real troops needs.

For the French Army, how it works ? The SCA is proposing a prototype through the CESCOF (Centre d'Expertise et de Soutien des Forces)and makes it valid by the EMAT (Etat Major de l'Armée de Terre). When they get their agreement, they are a issuing a call for tender. Then, tests on samples proposed by firms before they could start the production.

They supplied the FELIN T-3 by September 2008 and get Afghanistan's veterans feedbacks during their RetEx (Retour d'Expérience) program in March 2009 (specially from those who worn the T-3) and brought some modifications to the FELIN uniform.

First T-4/S1 uniforms appeared in Afghanistan by Spring 2010 and the rest of the production will be provided to troops this year for a total amount of 250 000.

The information I gave is providing by the Army, but I am sure that, in Afghanistan, you have some units which are still waiting for the FELIN uniform.

Hi Jean, do you have any information on the trial camouflage that was developed and exhibited a few years ago? I know there was a woodland pattern, and possibly a desert prototype as well.

Why is it France uses woodland pattern in Afghanistan? Why not desert pattern?

Hello, desert camouflage is used in Afghanistan by the Alat (Air Force) French soldiers use camouflage cce because it camouflages well in the Afghan landscape, such as MARPAT woodland in Usmc

Hello, this cover was a try but never seen the field, the project was abandoned for camouflage mesh cce Felin

This what has been proposed to replace the T-3 : the T-4/2. Chest pockets have been removed (Frag vest) and the camouflage is rather different as the T-3' camo has been judged unapropriate.

It is supposed to be declined in three versions : tempered, hot and desert climates.

Currently how many version (I means camouflage) exist for this uniform?? I have found any information when I goggled it

This is a Central Europe camouflage. The French Army politic is now : One Army, one Camo !

Morning JY, I didn't know this information, I thought the french army had more than one camouflage. Anyway, this pattern, cut are great.

I like the "canadian spirit" for the buttons.

Do you know what kind of boots they wear, I have seen some french soldiers who wore meindl boots in afghanistan. It s always the same factory??

Well, if I am considering the Legionnaire' wardrobe to whom this outfit was belonging, he was wearing ASOLO & GARMONT mountain boots.

That's a good philosophy and makes a lot of sense..CCE is an effective Camo so why not
