    Patch Help Empty Patch Help

    Post by Bagman6 Sat May 04, 2019 7:25 am

Good morning fellow collectors.  Hope everyone is well.  Picked up this patch the other day.  I call it a lone wolf meaning there was nothing else to give a clue as to what it was or who it had belonged to.  Theater made I believe.  Another collector suggested it is Saudi.  The detail isn't great and I'm having trouble making out the words.  I have my opinion as to what it says but will hold that now as not to influence anyone else's "eye".  Thanks.

top says "Apoio à irak" which is Portuguese for "Support for Iraq"

bottom says "BPC V Besmayah" which means Building Partner Capacity site 5 (V in roman numerals) Besmayah Iraq

"Apoio a Irak" could also be Galician, a language similar to Portuguese spoken in Spain, and because the flags look like Spanish flags that seems more likely. Both Spain and Portugal have had soldiers at BPC Besmayah

Wow. Thanks Cap. That's great. So you're thinking this is from Inherent Resolve?

Great site Bob. Thanks for posting it. Guessing a US soldier picked it up and brought it back. It would be fascinating to know the journey of some of these items.
