Whats the deal with AITES gear?

I see the stuff from time to time and was just curious if I could get some more info on them. Their stuff seems to be mostly improved versions on issue MOLLE items with a few items of their own design. I have some odds and ends made by them and its the same quality of standard issue gear. None of their stuff I have seen has had an NSN or a contract number so I assumed it was only commercial gear. Also they seem to have been out of business for quite a while, any idea on when? Anyone have a catalog or anything from them?

I've seen alot of that gear show up surplus from the USMC, in big enough quantities that had to be issued. Outside of that I have no clue what the deal was with that company.

Yeah, I saw it turn up with USMC surplus frequently also. There had to of been some sort of connection.

AITES and SDS used to have very similar products in the mid-2000's. I'm not aware if AITES was ever issued, but many of the nearly identical SDS counterparts certainly were. It wouldn't surprise me if they were a subcontractor for the SDS branded stuff, or if they were another contact supplier with commercial retail offerings as well.

I did some digging, it looks like AITES was a product line, not a company itself.
