Republican Guard Uniform?

Came across this today at my local surplus store.... guy had 1 complete set and an additional jacket in this pattern.

From what I have gathered it is a pattern worn by the Iraqi Republican Guard. My question is: how common is this uniform, and should I go back to get it?

He also had several others in the same style, but in solid colours (tan and OD), as well as one in the woodland pattern. I'm not into Iraqi uniforms, but if someone here is, I could pick one or two of them up to do a trade with?

Yes, Republican Guard pattern. How much were they?

$10 for the jacket pictured and $10 for the other jacket but it also had pants so he may be selling as a set, which seems a very good deal.

Last time I saw it for sale, a set was $100. I can't believe you passed on them. You should grab woodland ones too because it's what they used in 2003.

I'm going to go back tomorrow because another member from IACMC said he'd trade for a set. Let's hope no one came in between today and tomorrow knowing what they were...

Green, tan and woodland RG uniforms also. Usually its hit and miss stuff, though... today was out of the ordinary for this store.

Actually I had a set of these, apparently the iraqis made huge quantities of these. It appears to have the correct stamp marks around the neck area. These were used early 2003 and 4 by iraqi national guard, I've got pics also of the sets in use by 36 commando bn ca 2008. Nice stuff I think I sold my set for around $80.

It is a neat pattern. Were these produced even after Saddam-era, or were surplus stocks used?

Ben, my guess is leftover stock. As I'm not sure what kind of manuf. capability existed in 2003-04 after the invasion. The uniform that I had had all the appropriate hussein type ink stamps, so guessing they had a warehouse of the stuff.

10 dollars is a very good deal! This is commonly referred to as "Desert Blotch" pattern camo. From the information I've gathered, this is a later war camo (so it would be more towards 2003). It was used by the regular Iraqi Armed forces as well as the Republican Guard and quantities of it were used in the transitional era by the Iraqi army and ICDC. I hope you picked these up!!!!!

I have a set close to this. I didn't know it was a RG uniform. If I post a Pic of it could you tell me if it is or not?
