What Kind of Pack is This?

I have been dragging this pack around for a couple of years and no one seems to know what it is and who made it. I found it at a swap meet near Pearl Harbor Hawaii and I posted it up on USMF once asking about it but no one there could tell me anything about it. a friend of mine told me he saw some SWCC guys using them years ago but he couldn't tell me what model it was or who made it. some folks think its Lowe alpine but as nothing on it has the normal LOWE logo I don't thank that's who made it but it dose have small white tags with a "L" on them so I guess it could be even though I have not seen them use these tags before. it has black ITW buckles on the outside and white ones on the inside. the buckles are dated 93-95 so I would think it was made sometime in the late 1990's.

the mesh on the side that would face your back is opened at the bottom and looks like it was made so a foam pad could be inserted

in the center of the front there is a void and 4 buckles face the center. the top 2 are 1" and the bottoms are small. it looks like maybe a day pack or a sustainment pouch was supposed to be here but it is missing.



the bottom opens up with a zipper much some modern packs and has a built in divider that separates the top area from the bottom but it can be opened to make one large storage area. it has a white label but its washed out and nothing is readable. it has two 1" straps sewn into the bottom that were probably for securing a sleep system.

it has small mesh pouches built into the bottom sides on both side near the waist belt.




each one has a divider built in with another divider behind it and the mesh can be cinched closed at the top.

both sides have a zipper that runs top to bottom to allow you to get into the pack without opening the lid.



the lid is just a lid and has no compartments and is not removable.

the internal frame is a plastic sheet with 3 aluminum bars sewn to it and it has 2 fiberglass rode's running up the sides.

it has a small internal radio compartment like a lot of packs.

I almost forgot, I have suspected this was made by Dana Design because they use the same small white tags with single letters to denote size of components and L could stand for large. it also resembles some of their older designs and they did use a should straps system like this pack has. with all that said I have never seen a Dana Design pack that matched this and most of their early packs I have seen had 2 large compartments on the front like the Mystery Ranch satl
