Afghan made patch scroll Empty Afghan made patch scroll

Post by Guest Sun Mar 06, 2016 1:22 pm

Any one that can read Pashto here?
At least, I assume it's Pashto. Might as well be Dari or something like that...
    Came out of Kabul, 2011.

    Thanks in advance!

So there is a year, 1394 maybe the bottom line is police station of Afghanistan. I think the top line is a specific district I cannot translate it. It is Dari, so no vowels. lol

They read right to left - because everything in that country is backward, so 4, 7 or 8 its one of the 2, I burnt all my notes when I left, 31, if that means anything regarding a unit designation

I suspect the digits are meant to be ١٣٤٨ (1348 of the lunar Islamic calendar) the year Mohammed Nadir Shah’s dynasty began.

The same as found on the Afghanistan national flag ......

Here are a couple of mine I posted back in 2011.  Also found a picture of a similar type scroll being worn by the ANP.

Is the scroll that the soldier is wearing upside down? Different version?
Notice the colors on the end of the scroll is opposite of yours.

    Bob,

Yes.  He is wearing the scroll upside down.  As to why, not a clue.

I was looking at the scroll in post #13 and it is the same as the one my friend in Iraq had translated in post #6. Something didn't look
right to me so I sent it to my friend in Iraq and he sent back a different translation to the bottom part. He said he
made a mistake on the first translation so here is the correct translation.
    This looks better.
    Sorry guys...

You're welcome. I try not to make a mistake but it does happen. Just glad I
    caught it when I did.
