How do you research a service member ?

Gents,

This might not be the right place for this, but I was wondering how you could research a service member online, etc. I have a number of named uniforms that it would be great to find out a little bit more about the guy or gal. Nothing stupid or "stalker-ish", just would like to put a little more info and maybe a photo with some of the uniforms. Often the only info I have is a last name, rank and what units they were in according to what patches are on the uniform.

Any thoughts of comments are welcome.

All my research is limited on google and social media. With luck, their name pops up. Sometimes I even try to reach veterans through facebook but i never had any luck getting response. They probably finds it creepy.

I have had allot of luck with linked in too.

Google is your friend. There is quite a lot of footwork and you have to be willing to spend time connecting the dots but its doable.
