You know....I was doing some research last night on a DCU and found something very interesting. According to a website I found, the Iraqi 36th Commando Battalion took part in the Second Battle of Fallujah. I am wondering if this uniform is from the Iraqi 36th Commando Battalion? Nice piece!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the SOS you referred to?

SOS stands for The Show of Shows and is held annually in Louisville, Kentucky. It is normally held towards the end of February, but this year it is towards the middle. Whatever the case, the Show of Shows is one of the largest militaria shows in the entire world. You can find anything from almost any time period. If you are in the US during the February time period....you really need to stop by and give it a look. Oh yeh....be sure to bring a LARGE wad of cash to spend!!!!Ben wrote:Pardon my ignorance, but what is the SOS you referred to?

It'd be a fairly easy drive to Louisville from where I live, but I doubt I'll be able to make it because of classes and busy weekends this semester. However, now that I know about it, I can plan accordingly for next year!

I know the last response to this was a year ago, but I didn't want to start a new thread over the same kind of uniform.
I came across one of these uniforms last summer. A friend gave it to me who got it from their neighbor. They weren't too interested in militaria, so they graciously passed it to me. Their neighbor was issued it in Iraq while attached to an Iraqi unit. I don't know the specifics of what it is that they were doing or the specific unit. It didn't have any patches or anything on it when I received it.
Here's a picture I have saved. I can get more if anyone is interested.
Does anyone have a clue what a uniform like this is worth? I've had an incredibly difficult time finding much information on it.

More than likely the US soldier was a combat advisor to the Iraqi Commandos. As far as value....I have no idea.

I want one!
This is a pretty neat pattern. A bit loud for desert kit, but otherwise cool!

That is true. I have three Iraqi uniforms (brown SOF digital, black SOF, and copy of desert MARPAT) and they are all made in China.jimmyduncan23 wrote:Ive been told that most the uniforms now are being imported from china is that true?

hello,
very nice and not so common.
Here is a helmet cover and a cap from this unit, and also a (used) patch of the ISOF Btn 36.

First time I've seen a helmet cover in this pattern.. Awesome patch as well..
Last week a friend acquired 4 sets of this pattern and blessed me with this unused set.
The waterproof (?) inner pocket is a typical feature of Lithuanian made uniforms.
BTW. Post # 22 : The Iraqi officer is wearing an Italian Vegetata uniform.

Thanks for updating this thread and posting some new pictures and whatnot on this unit. I routinely look around for a set of these but I always seem to be a day to late. Thanks for sharing the patches too!

That's too bad, there were a few that sold on ebay this month but they went pretty expensive, over $200 for the tops and $50 for the pants.Zeked wrote:Thanks for updating this thread and posting some new pictures and whatnot on this unit. On January 6th, 2006, an Iraqi Army soldier from 1ST Brigade, 6th Iraqi Army, keeps guard as his fellow soldiers search an area in southern Taji. The Iraqi Army made, coordinated, and conducted Operation Taji Shore. (US Army photo by SPC Timothy Story)
Interesting to see a soldier who is not a part of the 36th Commando Battalion wearing a Lithuanian helmet cover.
