Unknown ANA rank insignia?

Just wondering if anyone is able to identify this ANA rank insignia?

I'll check at work tomorrow to see what I can come up with. Reminds me of a staff badge for a Brigade level unit with the X.

My guess is major(just a guess), at least going by UK type rank structure, ie this wreath in place of a crown.

I'm not sure, but for me it's not Afghan Army...I think it's an european badge...I already saw this insignia before, but can't remember where...

Thanks for the help. Im not sure on the major idea, a major (jagran) should have 1 star and crossed swords. And with this patch it is definetly Afghan made and i traded it straight off the chest of an Afhan soldier but i suppose he could have traded it off some other coalition force, stranger things have happened!

Definitely not an Afghan rank. ANA troops are almost as bad as local national terps in wearing whatever they feel like on their tunics. I read the riot act to one who decided to wear a Ranger tab because the guy he translated for had one. They have a tendency to wear bits and pieces similar to what non Afghan troops around them are wearing.. even stuff from units several rotations prior.

I seem to recall that patch as well and think I may have brought some back with me. Believe it to be Afghan, just not a rank

wonder if it's an army tradesman's badge perhaps for an armorer?? Just a thought
