I think it s too much for just a piece of twill, but the seller makes his day. He has sold others patches more than 70$ each.

This is true, it's an Irish collector who bought it. 110597865384 is the item number of the set that was sold 1600$. We can't see the price because the feedback is more than 90 days old. He also won a set that I tried to buy Evil or Very Mad

Unfortunately for collectors, prices are just going to continue to rise on OEF/OIF items. I have said this and I will reiterate here for those who might not have read some of my earlier posts. In my opinion, I truly feel that OEF/OIF items will someday have the same following as Vietnam items do today.

I make that assertion for several reasons. First off, 9-11-2001 had a profound effect on the world and I bet many people can remember where they were when the planes first hit the World Trade Center. Second, MANY nations have been involved in the War on Terror and have sent their soldiers to help battle religious fanaticism. Third, the number of soldiers that have been involved in the fighting is high compared to other conflicts (Grenada, Panama, Desert Storm, etc.). I think those three reasons in combination will create many new collectors in the future. I'm not sure how long it will be before it takes off, but it will happen one day.

I have also said that collectors need to be buying what they can find and afford from these conflicts NOW. I am not telling you to morgtage your house to finance your collection, I am just saying that you need to pick up items when you can and when you can afford them. Even if all you can afford are a few desert patches here and there, buy them when you can. I will aslo issue this caveat.....buy what you like. If you don't like patches and badges, don't buy them. Save your money and buy something you like such as a uniform or cap.

I know several of our members on a personal level and I can assure you they are buying things as they can. A DCU here, a rig there. They are slowly amassing an amazing collection. You should be doing the same. Very Happy

This was an interesting auction. Take a look at the bidders:

    Bidder A (3062) - 6 bids
    Bidder B (4106) - 1 bid
    Bidder C (8 ) - 3 bids
    Bidder D (1369) - 3 bids
    Bidder E (2800) - 2 bids
    Bidder F (161) - 2 bids
    Bidder G (255) - 1 bid

The bidders, except Bidder C with 8 feedbacks, are not newbies to Ebay. Four of the bidders have high feedback numbers ranging from 1369 up to 4106. These are Ebay members who buy/sell quite a bit of merchandise. One thing I can guarantee, Bidder G with 255 feedback, used a sniping software program. Laughing Still not sure why the patch went so high, but several advanced collectors thought it was something special.

One thing to remember about patches like this, some of them are made in very small quantities. For some examples, a dozen or so may be made and that is it.

Made from diamonds sounds about right! Laughing It has always boggled my mind that many times, single patches sell for higher amounts than patched uniforms. In the past when I have sold items, I sometimes had problems moving patched uniforms...but NEVER had trouble selling patches.

You said the winner buys patches. Does he always buy modern patches or does he buy patches from all time periods?
