French Gendarmerie Force Patches in Afghanistan

Nearly 200 Gendarmes from the French Gendarmerie Nationale, a military provost force as well as in charge of public safety have been sent in Afghanistan in November 2009 in order to reinforce their colleagues already present and take part at the 500 European Gendarmerie Force (EUROGENDFOR)

Missions are :

- Formation of the Afghan Police from the ANCOP at the Regional Logistic Center (RLC)of MAZAR-E-SHARIF.
- Deployement and tutelage in the field with Afghan Police from AUP. They are based in Forward Operational Bases (FOB).

The patch I did post is for Gendarmes from the COMGEND and few individuals.
They have the traditional képi or bonnet de police. It is not easy to find a picture , but I will find one.

Most of the Gendarmes are under the EUROGENDFOR control specially those from the OMLT and the RCL and they have the EUROGENDFOR patch. They have a blue beret when they do not have the helmet.

Battlefields Detectives Gendarmes are ones who are in charge of investigations and collecting evidences after an IED' explosions.

Here is a nice and not common patch related to Gendarmerie in Afghanistan, the TIC/WIT patch. It has been created by F. BERAUDO. Due to popular demand among Gendarmerie' collectors , it has been reissued. I was really lucky to get mine and I am 90% sure that it is a first issue and that it is a used patch which has been worn. Enjoy !

A new but used patch in my collection. The EUROGENDFOR low visibility patch which I was talking about in Post 4. Worn by France as well as other European Gendarmerie Forces as Italy, The Nedherlands, Spain, Poland, Turkey. You've got 11 EGF POMLTs in Afghanistan.

For the standard blue version , I have no idea but considering the quality of this patch, it is a local made as well as other Gendarmerie patches in Afghanistan .

And the last pic,of the Afghan road check is very interesting, and show's a lot of uniform/helmet/body amour detail...cool stuff

In my first post, I introduced the subject with the official patch (Réf.GN0379) from Gendarmerie Nationale Force in Afghanistan. Here is an example (not in mint condition) of the low visiblity one :

What's kind of uniform they are wearing?? It looks like a flight coverall, I can't see exactly. What's your opinion on this fact??

It could be, but I will probaby say that it is a resized jacket.

Get this interesting patch from a Battle Group Raptor menber who was in Tagab last Summer.

G.I.G.N. (Gendarmerie Special unit) is an elite anti-terrorism and hostage rescue force who's got 18 professional divers.

They have one diver in Tagab. This patch is made in Afghanistan. An error was made on this patch as the D for D'INTERVENTION has been replaced by a G.

The symbol is coming from the G.I.G.N' diver qualification badge.
