Re: Norway desert uniforms
Nice patches. I am sure their SF units are smaller in size and that got me thinking. Do you know if they have their own training program/camps in-country or do they buddy up with other SF counties special forces and use the same facilities and instructors. I figure airborne training they do within their own military do but when you get into SF training the dollars spent can add up quickly. Costs really do get a lot lot more when on a small scale. Kind of an off the wall thought but it is expensive to train SF guys in the states but the economies of scale are just so much better - and look how it costs the US (but not being $17 trillion in debt probably helps). Thanks Clete

Re: Norway desert uniforms
Thanks Clete..
Probably should have posted the patches elsewhere..
Wikipedia has a decent , though abbreviated article about Norwegian SF.
You are correct when you say they do parachute training in house and conduct some SF training at allied nations' military facilities.

Re: Norway desert uniforms
Nice shirts guys. These are rare..
Their absolute elite is FSK..
We got 3 ex FSK operators in the company I work for.
They do have their own training facilities and they do training with allied nations both outside of Norway and inside
If your lucky you might see them re-take an Offshore Oilrig and if your even luckier you might get to play the hostage.

Re: Norway desert uniforms
Current issue non ripstop desert shirt.
This is an updated version of M02 types. Most obvious change is the use of Canadian type buttons.

Re: Norway desert uniforms
Thanks, I've really got into Norwegian patterns, and have been fortunate to find the desert pieces.
Short answer...there are 2 parallel types of uniforms in each pattern.
One type ripstop, one not.
Basically both desert types have evolved ( and continue to evolve ) as have their woodland counterparts.
There are some obvious small differences in all the 6 blouses . I am not aware of any other variant at this time. They all pretty much follow the same cut, except for the slant pocket ripstop type.
That type is extremely lightweight lacking any reinforcements, having 4 small pockets not 6 , mesh lined front pockets, no suspenders ; it does not follow the same cut as the 6 pocket type that is known as an M02.
I believe both desert types ( ripstop and non ) are called M02. Newer types have Canadian type buttons instead of sown on ,and small Velcro panels added.
The old woodland is called M98, while the current is called M04 ( same pattern , cosmetic updates ). These uniforms are non ripstop.
Have not yet ascertained the proper info on ripstop woodland uniforms.
That is another story altogether..
Hopefully I have not confused further...

Thanks J.
As you may be able to tell, I really like these patterns. Shame they are going away for a new pattern . They are not being wholly replaced by MC, but MC is used by Norwegian Special Ops extensively.
