Afghan Body Armor Empty Afghan Body Armor

Post by Nkomo Sat Feb 16, 2013 5:02 pm

I recently picked this Afghan body armor recently. It seems to be a similar version to what Tom posted in the linked thread. Look at post number 72.

My version is a little different, as mine doesn't have a built in holster. Mine has places for a radio, six AK magazines, four pistol magazines, and an admin pouch.

Seeing this vest has places for four pistol magazines and no holster, it would stand to reason the individual would wear a drop leg holster.

This vest is heavily used and has places for soft armor, but no provision for any plates.

Does anyone have pictures of this vest in use in Afghanistan?

Thanks for the comments, Jason. I am having a tough time finding this vest in use. Lots of similar pictures, but nothing exact.

I am wondering something. Could this be an earlier vest as it doesn't have any buckle fasteners? It has all velcro fasteners, even for the inside to fasten around the middle.

Yeah mate, definetly a possibility of it being a earlier model. Either way its definetly got some wear, just got to figure out by who. Is it possible that the pistol mag pouches are for 30mm or 40mm grenades?

Two different type Afghan made body armor with webbing for MOLLE type pouches.

One of the vests has glint tape applied to the shoulder strap area.

Does anyone know what kind of body armor this is? Id like to maybe get the same kind as a representative piece. This was by far the most common body armor worn by ANA that I saw.

That model of ANA body armor is made by VestGuard and Armourshield (both UK companies).

VestGuard is indeed one of the suppliers of Afghan body armor.
