French NVG mount Empty French NVG mount

    Post by nico62fr Wed Aug 22, 2012 9:04 am

    Hello

I just received today this hard-to find (and expensive) piece of equipment of the French army : the NVG mount.

It is called "OB 70 mount" (or "Lucie" mount or also "griffe pour Lucie")

Our NVG is OB 70, nickname "Lucie" (because it brings you some light in the night).

Different models exist. It a metallic one. The latest one, even harder to find, is an OD plastic one.

    Hello

Yes Gary, it was first seen on the Spectra (I should be receiving mine soon, at the end of the month), and then on all the MSA TCF NVG v2 (the French equivalent ot the Mitch).

Today, just to try, I put it on my F1 helmet, and it fits very well too (but never seen in Afghanistan or somewhere else of course).

Now the latest model is in plastic, and very very hard to find I guess.

    Great NVG mount !

A friend of me is a soldier in the French army and explained me a small groups of soldiers had been charged to develop an alternative Lucie NVG mount for their own use in Afghanistan, an alternative mount to the very expensive existing mount. He'll send me pictures later.

It looks like it has a rubber strap? If it was under all kind of weathers, the rubber would start coming apart.

    Hello

Yes it's rubber, so you're right, I don't think it would last very long. Probably the latest models have a different strap.
