Here's a photos album I found on Picasaweb and particulary love because there's a part of history through a young soldier eyes...

It's a personal album from the PFC Barrett Raymond (a 801st Main Support Battalion, 101st Airborne Division, medic I think) deployed for the initial invasion in Iraq.

What's interesting in this album, is that he shows his depart, the depart of equipment by train, his fly and his life in Iraq. Here's a small chronology of events :

6 feb. 2003 : soldiers received their Anthrax and Smallpox vaccine in prevision to a future deployment
8 feb. - 10 feb. 2003 : they prepare their equipment for oversea service. Vehicles are taken by trains to be deployed in Camp Doha, Kuwait (probably by boot) where soldiers will recover them for their deployment in Iraq.
27 feb. 2003 : the PFC Raymond and his colleagues went in Fort Campbell (Kentucky) to take their plane for Kuwait. Last minute checks and SRP to be sure everyone has signed the proper life insurance forms and all the paperwork is in order before being deployed. Finaly, soldiers take their personal package and waited on tarmac for their plane. They had a "long walk" to enter in their plane and finaly arrived inside a civilian contracted plane where they were welcomed by stewardess and took their own place inside the plane.7
28 feb. 2003 : they arrive in Kuwait after a long travel by plane (~ 14-17 hours in the plane). A distance of 7022 miles from their Fort Campbell.
1st March 2003 : they recovered their vehicles in Kuwait, "lined up for a Ground Assault Convoy".
1st March - 18 march 2003 : it's time for training and adaptation in the hot sand of Gulf.
20 march 2003 : soldiers watch TV in their Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) tent and found out of the war had begun seeing the shock and awe reports on CNN. Apparently, their command really didn't tell them much. They also have a scuds alerts.
5 - 9 april 2003 : they are on road for Iraq and have their first roadside breaks on april 7. The first unit's destination is Al Iskandariyah in Iraq.
13-14 April 2003 : apparently, they arrive at their Forward Operating Base (FOB) and began to make patrols, training, and their military occupation. PFC Raymond is a medic I think because there's some pictures and video of medical treatments.
30 april 2003 : they arrives at Saddam Hussein Airport, in Baghdad.
2 May 2003 : they look to be on road for north of Iraq (Tikrit, Mosul).
12 June 2003 : they are at Mosul Airport and make a ceremony.
june, july and aug. : there's some pictures of them in Dohuk, Kurdistan (Northern Iraq)
19 Oct. 2003 : SFC Raymond is in USA - his wife give birth (his 3rd or 4th children ?).
26 Oct. 2003 : He's back in Gulf.
20 Febr. 2004 : they are waiting for their plane to return home.
21 Febr. 2004 : Soldiers look realy happy to be back in USA and there's a "welcome home" ceremony for their return in their base.

It's a one-year tour in Iraq story, for the beginning of OIF. He works now in Piedmont Medical Center apparently.

Hope you love this kind of story, because for me it's realy interesting.
