Unknown Chest Rig Empty Unknown Chest Rig

    Post by Mikesierra151 Tue Oct 11, 2011 9:44 pm

When I bought this rig I assumed it was Tactical Tailor. After sending them these pics they were unable to ID the manufacturer, they were however able to say it was NOT one of theirs.

Supposedly came from North Carolina if that helps. I have posted this a few other places with no results.

are the pouches removable? I see what looks to be impressions of the MOLLE straps on the back panel

i thought he'd be the body armor guy not chest rig guy Razz lol it does resemble the older RACK due to the 1.5" straps and rounded buckles, but being zippered front...I'm not sure...its NOT a LBT rig, nor is it OSOE or SOE-TECH, Esstac is the closest to it but they use padded H suspenders; what bugs me is that apparently only TT and Safariland doesnt use padding for their straps, yet all others without pads shows D-rings for a bib panel...no labels or tags anywhere...does the rig have map pockets between the front and back panels?

    No pockets.
I have owned a TON of TT stuff and if it wouldnt have been for TT telling me it wasnt them I would still call it a prototype MAV.
Patriot Performance Materials would be my next guess.

My first guess would have been Tac Tailor too. I'm sure you would have said if they were, but I assuming that the pouches are unmarked as well. Correct? Could this be a Paraclete rig? Question

I Looked up paraclete chest rigs, nothing; but the pouches are paraclete though; however.. paraclete is not the only one to use bungee cords in their pouches, HSGI and SOETECH both have them; yet their rigs do not look like this one.

From that area it could be an oddball rig from Gene, or maybe Diz. I was trying to find some of the early Esstac stuff I have buried, IIRC at least one of the rigs does not have padded straps and I know it was a 'prototype' rig that AFAIK never made it into production.

Any chances of seeing some stitching on the panel?

if theres a date on these buckles, its likely hidden by the strap material. these do not look like the normal blocky buckles used by ITW-Nexus in the past

On those models of buckles there is a visible date. Check on the middle prong on the underside of the male half where it is hallowed out. There should be a circle engraved with two digits in the middle of that circle. Those two digits are the last two digits of the date.

there is a photo of a TACP wearing this identical rig. my best guess is Tactical Tailor (which is common for usaf personnel). probably somewhere between 2002/2005. before 2002 they were still making pouches with molle strap or non modular rigs, after 2004 they started using colored fastex.

Here are some more detailed pics. I have included a PPM mag pouch and a Paraclete RACK in order to compare.

As said before its not TT. I have a email from them saying so. Im leaning toward a custom rigger job.

    Thanks for all the rplies.
