ANA recruiting posters

Hi All,

Heres a couple of ANA recruiting posters, the one of the single soldier is massive. These were supposed to be put up around the local area but they were never up very long. If anyones interested i will also add some ANA/ANP flyers when the rest of my stuff gets back.

I have the gerber multi tool there for size reference.

Good lord, that first one is ENORMOUS

I have an Iraqi Army recruiting poster, its cool to see its Afghani counterparts.

Very nice posters. Strange to show soldiers sat instead of being stand up on a recruiting poster.

Thanks. the first one was a bit difficult to get back! And along with them sitting i was surprised that none of them have a beard.

This next one isnt a recruiting poster but a flyer given out to the locals explaining the "blimps"

Two things I find interesting about these posters....in the first poster, the Afghan soldier is wearing the full color cloth version of the ANA beret badge. Most of the time, the metal version is seen in use on the green berets.

Next interesting thing is that in the last poster, the ANA soldier is wearing a maroon beret, which indicates he is an Afghan Commando rather than regualr Afghan soldier.

Thanks guys, that was the plan with these, frame them up one day as a back drop for the collection.

Good points Arch. With the badged berets, i noticed pretty much no one below sergeant had a badge then most of them were metal with probabably 1 in 10 either black, green or red embroidered patch. I traded with an ana sergeant for a green beret with black embroidered insignia.

For the sake of this thread, I felt it necessary to show our forum members the beret badges we were discussing. Sometimes I forget that not everyone knows what I'm talking about and pictures can sometimes explain much better than words.

What is shown in the picture below are an Afghan Enlisted beret badge, an Afghan Officers beret badge, and a Afghan Enlisted beret badge in cloth.

In this AP photo, you can see Afghan enlisted soldiers wearing both the metal and cloth version of the beret badges. Note the soldier with the cloth version is a Sgt.

Thanks Arch,

With the beret in the cartoon its probably more likely to be red for MPs as opposed to the special forces maroon.

Thanks for the information. I am on the look out for a red and maroon Afghan beret. Hard to source.

Yeah i was dissapointed i never got to find one (maroon especialy) myself. Im jealous of your officers beret. Something that might not be commonly known is allot of Afghan soldiers wont sell or trade some badges or insignia as the top word on most is Allah.

Last ones! These were supposed to be given out to locals but most ended up on ANA or Australian wrists. From memory it says something about the ANA heroes of afghanistan.
If anyone wants one of the blimp flyers let me know as i have a fair few.

I have some of those flyers as well, plus many, many ANP ones. I also have a few bracelets, but saw them mostly work by ANSF. One of our terps told us it said "Afghan Forces are the Heroes of Afghanistan".

For those not familiar with the "blimp", they are referred to as JLENS or more commonly PTDS (Persistent Threat Detection Systems). Eye's in the sky that watch over everything. Look it up on goggle to find out the specifics but the commic spells it out pretty good.
