Iraqi M-80 Lid. Empty Iraqi M-80 Lid.

Post by Easy Gee Sun Aug 22, 2010 11:00 am

    Hi Guys.

This is my one and only Iraqi M-80 lid, this one was "Allegedly" brought back by a Royal Marine in 2003, sold it to the dealer I got it off, for a fiver (£5.00), well that's the story anyway....I bought the lid not the story...but it does sound about right to me Wink......I wish I'd only paid a Fiver though!!!!!!!!!

This lid has the Iraqi Army property Mark, and has Arabic script on the liner cradle ,and on the chinstrap.... Haven't a clue what it say's ,but would love to find out one day.....This lid is of South Korean origin, but I'm after a M-90 ( Iraqi manufactured) to add to the collection...I guess I need to keep searching around in the surplus stores...cheers Guys,Gary. It could be Republican Guard helmet because their insignia is red triangle. Nice one. Smile

    Iraqi M-80 Lid. April-1990-President-of-I-033

April 1990: Iraq's president, Saddam Hussein, addresses Iraqi troops

notice most of these Iraqi soldiers wear the M80 helmet in standard green like your helmet

also note that several of these soldiers are wearing a knit cap with their helmet, this could be why so many helmets are missing the original webbing, they were probably misplaced when they removed it to wear a knit cap inside for warmth.

Iraqi Green M80 Helmet From my Collection

Here is the one I found in Balad, Iraq last month it was sitting on a back of the T wall in an E.O.D Compound. The Master Cheif let me take it because he told me they were going to clean up the Compound yard. I am going to send it home as soon as I can in the next few days.

    Thank you for Viewing

    Gary,
The Arabic Script in the helmet liner harness is:
    from right to left - m(aster) s(ergeant) / 8 - Abdul Qahar Nasir
