Peace Brigades and Brigades of the Popular Defense patches

These are the first patches I have seen for the different groups fighting for the Iraqi Government after the June, 2014
fiasco with ISIS.
Brigades of the Popular Defense Arm patch.
3-5/8 in. diameter and Velcro on the reverse.
It is worn by all who volunteered for the Popular Defense.

The Awaited Mahdi Peace Brigade Arm and Chest patch.
The arm patches are 3 in. wide and 3-7/8 in. high with Velcro on the reverse.
This patch is worn by the fighters in the Peace Brigades affiliated with the
Shiite Cleric Muqtada al-sadr.

Another Awaited Mahdi, Peace Brigades Arm and Chest patches.
The arm patch is the same as the one above.
The chest patch with the dove is 2-7/8 in. x 2-7/8 in.
This patch is worn by the leaders in peace Brigades affiliated to the
Shiite Cleric Muqtada al- Sadr

Badr Organization Arm and Chest Patches.
The shoulder patches are 3-5/8 in. wide and 4-1/16 in. high.
They are worn by the Shiite Badr Organization, led by Mr. Hadi al- Ameri.

Brigade of Abu al Fadi al Abbas shoulder and chest patch.
The shoulder patches are 3-3/8 in. wide and 4 in. high..
They are worn by fighters brigade Abolfazi Abbas (which is one of the Imams of the
Shia and the brother of Imam Hussein).
This brigade of fighters are defectors form the Shi'ite Parties and has their organization
in Lebanon and this brigade fought a long time in Syria and more than likely will return
to Shi'ite Cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.

Another Peace Brigade Shoulder and chest patch.
The shoulder patches are 3-5/8 in. wide and 5-7/16 in. high.
This patch is worn by Officers in Peace Brigades affiliated to the
Shite Cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.

Hezbollah Battalions shoulder and chest patches.
The shoulder patches are 3-1/4 in. wide and 3-1/4 in. high.
These patches are worn by Hezbollah Battalions Fighters.
Lead in Iraq by a man named Abbas Muhammadawl.

Hezbollah Battalion in Iraq Shoulder and chest Patch.
The shoulder patches are 2-15/16 in. wide and 3-3/8 in. high.
These patches are worn by Hezbollah Battalions Leaders
The Leader of the Hezbollah Battalions in Iraq is a man named
Abbas Muhammadawl

League of the Righteous Shoulder and Chest Patch.
The shoulder patch is 2-7/8 in. wide, 3 in. high and Velcro on the reverse.
These patches are worn by fighters in the League of the Righteous Militia and is
led by the Cleric Qais al- Khazali.

Brigades of al-Khorasani Shoulder and chest Patches.
The shoulder patches are 3-1/2 in. wide, 4-1/2 in. high and have Velcro on the reverse.
This is the new Shia-Shi'ite Militias newly emerged and announced itself in Syria 9-24-2013.
They work openly in Iraq after the recent events in Mosul and publicly acknowledges they
relate with Iran and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

I just love the construction of Iraq patches, the graphics and symbolism are great as well! Good collection Bob!

In order to keep the Mahdi Army Shoulder Boards together with the patches, i decided to post
them here.
The following is shoulder boards used by the Mahdi Army and led by the Shi'ite Cleric
Moqtada al-Sadr.
They are crudely made and of different lengths, even the same ones as a pair.
The names are even embroidered opposite each other.
First is Muqtada al-Sadr

I have found out that many of these patches and shoulder boards are tightly controlled and impossible to get.
I received a few pictures of similar patches and one of the shoulder boards in use.

This is a great thread Bob, makes me homesick to start collecting again! Just have a soft spot for Iraq insignia!

This uniform is sort of confusing. Is he active Special Forces wearing the shoulder boards of a Peace Brigade or is he a fighter in the
Peace Brigade wearing a Special Forces Uniform and beret.
I know soldiers in Iraq seem to wear whatever they want.

Bob, unless things have changed and I doubt they have. The Iraq soldiers seem to put whatever they could on their uniform to "tart them up" Recall in the first years after democracy EVERY Iraq soldier had on the cloth jump wings knowing that Iraq hadn't trained any paratroops in quite some time.

I think that's actually one of the appealing things about the iraq insignia, so much out there and little to no control of how/who wears it.
