These were in a local antique shop, but unfortunately the name of the vet is not known. It appears that the soldier was in the Support Battalion of the 1st Special Forces Group and had spent time with other airborne units. The 506th Coin has the dates of deployment as 2008-2009.

There's a uniform to go along with all of this, but the dealer didn't have it handy.  From the description, it sounds like it is his Class A's.

One correction, I meant to write OEF, not OIF.

This guy is attached to Special Forces, not a Tabbed Special Forces Member.

Here is part of the answer.  There were two uniforms in the group.  One male's with 101st SSI on both shoulders and one female's with SF on the left shoulder.  There were also two berets one with a 153rd Cavalry DUI. The 153 Cav is part of the Florida Army National Guard.

I believe the male served with the 801st BSB in 2008. I wish I knew their names or had some more clues about their service.

I really like that deployment coin for the 2/506th. They were Task Force White Currahee, and the 1/506 was TF Red Currahee, all under the Combined TF Currahee. I think you are right that the 08-09 are the deployment dates as their AAR says they were deployed from March 2008-March 2009 during OEF Rotation IX. The whole of TF Currahee lost some 32 soldiers and one DA Civilian among the 506th, their U.S. and NATO attachments. Not even counting their ANA partners. That's a tough year of deployment in anyone's war. Unlike the jewelry store, this stuff ain't just a bunch of bling. Thank you for sharing with us.

Thanks for the background on their deployment! I have been trying to research more about what this vet went through. Even if I don't know his name, I can still try to tell his story.

I am trying to figure out whether the last ribbon is a NATO ribbon or Florida National Guard Service ribbon.  Any input would be appreciated!

BTW, Modern medals are not my forte, so if I am wrong in identifying them, please feel free to correct me.

Also, if it is the NATO medal, should we see other awards from the same deployment? For example a Humanitarian Service medal?

Its a tough one, because some people in the NG don't wear their NG ribbons only the Federal (regular/reserve) ribbons even though they earned them. Also, If you go Active Duty or Army Reserve from National Guard, you can't wear the National Guard Ribbons anymore.

Also It is just the NATO medal, because After November 2006 US troops in Afghanistan fell under nato.

I think it is probably more likely it's a NATO medal from something like a Joint Guard rotation in Bosnia or Kosovo. Given that this jacket still has the 101st patch, and he was an E-5, looks to be pretty squared away with an ARCOM and 3 x AAMs and leadership tabs - but does not appear to have yet been awarded a Good Conduct Medal, I am guessing that this jacket was his active duty uniform. How many service stripes and overseas stripes does this jacket have? Two on the wearer's right, one on the left maybe? It could be that by the time he got into the Guard, that they had switched by then to the blue Army Service Uniform? I suppose it is possible that the 153rd Cav beret and FLARNG coins do not go with the Currahee/506 Jacket and coins. But with the DUI crests off and no Air Assault Badge or jump wings it has that look of being scavenged a bit for a new uniform.
