    MyZone et al,

Very nice knife, well done! This is a Hartsook knife, handmade by Doug Hartsook of Kernersville, NC. Mr. Hartsook is a retired SF man who has been making handmade combat/fighting knives for more than 20 years. As you suspected his high quality knives are popular in the SOF community. The example you have pictured above is known as the ODA Model. Here is a link to the the Hartsook Knife web site:

Traded one of the Hartsook for a Billy Maynard custom "Bulldog".....I understand the some Maynards are on display at USASOC HQ on Ft. Bragg....

I will post pics pronto....I know most of you don't collect knives, but it is just way to cool to have a handworked piece of steel in your hand. Twisted Evil

    Cheers~

    MyZone et al,

Bill Maynard Hand Made Knives are very well known in the SOF community especially in the Ft. Bragg area. Each and every knife that bears his name is handmade by Maynard himself in his small workshop. The motto of his company is "Knives for the Elite". He makes a very high quality product. I have a Jumpmaster Model by Maynard that was made for and carried by a man from 10th SFG(A). I will dig it out and take some pics to post up here. Would like to see pics of your Maynard as well.

Small world we live in.....I just met Doug Hartsook's son. I had no idea who he was when the conversation started....

We were talking about military surplus, and some how the conversation rolled around to collecting. I mentioned I like custom combat knives. He kind of lit up and stated his father was Doug, and he made knives.

I immediately reach in my stash and pulled out a Hartsook ODA and said "He made this?" Sure enough, that was a the start of a great conversation.....

    Cheers ~

I would really like to buy it from you.
The zip tie is there because I didn't like how the sheath fit was. I put the zip tie there after I removed the rivet. The white smear on the blade in front of the handle is a wax product by the name of "Renaisance". I still have the same can. I believe there was visible sharpie on the edge where I sharpened it. I can't exactly remember where the green belt came from.
If you're still in NC, I can meet you anywhere this weekend for payment. Thanks .
