    Australian Patches Empty Australian Patches

Post by cplcustard Mon Dec 12, 2011 12:23 am

I know the the IR flag if faked it is produced by SORD Australia, I am unsure however of the TF66 patch as i have never come across a 100% real one yet.

Cool patces. The TF66 looks slightly different to the airsoft specials on ebay but I dont know either way on this one. And the IR flag I wouldnt write off as a fake but a legitimate SORD made item. The amount of PnM, SORD and Platatac made gear we wore overseas probably matched the amount of issued kit Wink

    Cheers

I knew that it is genuine SORD i thought it didn't quite belong in any other section because it isn't issued kit.
My main doubt about the TF66 patch is that its woven instead of stitched. Question

ISAF Australia isn't my field so I'm in no way of expert in this subject but if you take a look at US gear/equipment section, you will see a lot of after market stuff made for and worn by US troops. I'm sure its same thing for Australia.

The TF66 could be legit although being woven.

BUT as already noted, with the recent docu on Australian SF I'm 100% sure we'll have a massive influx of replicated "SF" patches hitting the market, with guys like the one from Taiwan only being the tip of the ice-burg. Similar to the fake Vietnam patches around.
Form a collectors perspective, its a pain in the rear, basically forcing us to rely on close contacts we are sure of where they have their stuff from in order to get hands on legit patches. On the other hand, I personally think I will buy the fake/ replicated ones as well, just to have a sample of them. Thinking of the future some 20 years from now, it might be helpful to have these at hand.
As long as the replicated ones are sold as such and not as genuine I have no problem with that.

TF66 patches are produced in both embroidered and woven versions. Problem being they are allready reproduced in both embroidered and woven versions. Now my problem is I recently asked a mate in one of the units that wear these if he had a spare and he said they didnt get enough and he bought his off ebay. So are they then real or repro??? This is just one guy but could this be a problem with fakes being made while these patches are still in use?

Well, that really causes quite a problem, Jason.
My personal opinion is that if I get it from a person who wore this patch downrange and he "confesses" it being purchased on ebay, due to the mentioned reason, I'd consider it being legit.
Whereas one just bought, for the purpose of adding it to the collection, from ebay without this background information / history is just a replica.

Indeed, so the only way to feel a bit of security on legit patches is to know exactly whom you're getting them from.
