    This is a CUSTOM US MADE Patch that a Marine had made when he was an advisor to the Iraqi Army back in 2007-2008. It is a morale patch for the Iraqi Scout Sniper Platoon that he worked with. The patch reads: 2-1-7 (2nd Battalion, 1st Brigade, 7th Division) and says "Scout Sniper Platoon, Strength and Honor" in Arabic.

    It also includes the Jaguar, which is highly respected in Iraqi Culture, as well as a crossed Kalashnikov/Dragunov.

    The 2nd Battalion, 1st Brigade, 7th Division of the Iraqi Army was created in Baghdad in 2003, served in Ramadi from 2003-2007, and then served in Diwaniyah in 2008, Basra in 2008 and Al Kut in 2008-2009.

    Thanks, Chris. I was really excited to be able to find these. I especially like that the MArine who had these is a member of MARSOC. I wish I could have afforded some of his gear as well. However, any MARSOC items go HIGH!

    And so it begins.  An Ebay seller has been finding patches on our forum and is now reproducing them in an effort to screw the collector.  

     I'm sure if you look at his other products, you might see where he has copied patches you own as well.  This is my opinion on the matter.

    Apparently, the this Ebay seller has filed a complaint on this forum saying he is a "REPUTABLE" dealer and that we were wrong to accuse him of any wrong doing.  LOL!  




    He says there is no "bases" (I think he meant BASIS) for our accusations, but I will let the forum members look at the pictures above and let them make their own decisions.  No doubt in my mind that the seller has reproduced this patch and many others off this forum and others.  This is my opinion on the matter.

    I also encourage this Ebay seller to please weigh in on this subject as well.  We are open and honest on this forum and will listen to all opinions.   Please explain to us how you came by one of these RARE patches and why you are reproducing them without letting the collectors know they are fake.  


    Also, I'd love to hear how you managed to get so many Central and South American patches/ranks, when these are so uncommon?  I'm waiting for a response, but won't be holding my breath.

    Hmmm... I don't know anything about epaulettes, but I just did a quick comparison and I think it's kind of odd that Kuwait, Iceland, Egypt and North Korean epaulettes have exactly the same dimensions, thread count and number of stitches. I really don't think Iceland and North Korea shop at the same epaulette store.

    There are a lot of really nice repos, but there are also remakes of bad remakes scattered throughout.

    When you look at his patches you can see they all have the same 'look' about them. All off the same machine in my opinion. I'd love to see what miltrader has to say about this.

    The eagle is supposed to be carrying a big dark maroon "W" in it's right talon.  Uhh... no "W". That would be the "W" in "West". Details, details.....

    If he would label them as repos, then there wouldn't be a problem.  However, what he has listed are exactly that.....repos, but yet fails to inform the buyer.  For him to come on to a collector centric board and say we are "slandering" him takes balls.  We are the people who can tell what is real versus what is reproduction......not a good idea to lodge a complaint here.  We can tear his arguments to shreds.  I will add that your posts did EXACTLY that.

      He copies our pictures and then makes repros of them using a sewing machine.  Very sneaky.

    Well - it seems to me his own words are proof of his actions.  Here is verbatim what you wrote when you posted the original patch at the very start of this thread:

    Now - here is the description off of the eBay listing for the remake:

    "This patch is a morale patch for the Iraqi Scout Sniper Platoon.  It was designed by a Marine who was the advisor to the Iraqi Army (07-08).
    The Arabic writing states: "Scout Sniper Platoon, Strength, and Honor"
    The rifles on the side are a Kalashnikov (automatic rifle) and the Dragunov (sniper rifle).
    The jaguar is a coveted Iraqi symbol."

    So unless you guys are consulting the same Iraqi 2-1-7 Wikipedia page, it appears pretty obvious that the wording from the seller's post came right from your own description.

    here is my 2 cents....from the 2 examples of original patches....the level of detail is excellent, from the patches that the seller on ebay is selling... they could NOT look anymore different & the original manufacturer would NOT start making much less detailed versions than the originals.....
