    British used plate carrier?

Post by Mercenary25 on Thu Sep 30, 2010 4:24 pm

    Hey guys,

I have a possible deal pending. It is for OD green Black Ops (Afghanistan tactical company) plate carrier that has been over painted with tan. The guy said that he heard that it came from British paratrooper that was in Afghanistan.

So I have a question for everyone, have anybody seen any photos or know of that Paratroopers use plate carriers? Most of photos I've seen, they used Osprey Body Armor.

    Thanks.

I have seen one photo of a British para with a plate carrier, but it was DPM-patterned... I can't remember now for the life of me where it was. if I find it I will post it.

I work so fast I amaze myself sometimes. lol!
Interestingly enough, it was on your collection website; that was where I remembered seeing it.
Here he's wearing some sort of DPM-patterned plate carrier -- the giveaway is that there's no side armour panels.

That's the closest thing to "regular" troops wearing it that I have seen, but I'd bet money that "they" (SAS) use light & quick armour setups when on operations.

That plate carrier is made by Blackhawk.

Personally....I think $80 is definitely a reasonable price. They normally sell for around that price around the bases. I'd go for it.

Which plate carrier were you referring to? One in the pic Ben posted?

Arch, I need to know who would have worn it first. The current owner of this PC said that he got it from a British veteran of OEF. I think it still could be used for US display as well.

I was just saying the only photo I have seen of Brits wearing plate carriers was the BlackHawk one, I have not seen anything in regard to them wearing the one like Merc posted here. But anything is indeed possible.

    Apologies for any confusion.

Plate carriers were worn by some troops in 2007.

SF guys still wear them, but they are really frowned on as if you are injured, you are not insured for any injuries.
