    Iraqi patches Empty Iraqi patches

Post by BM Mon Aug 15, 2016 1:27 pm

I have recently obtained some Iraqi made patches. A fellow collector who was in the Australian Army and was in Iraq in 2015
picked these extras up from the local sewing shop where he was stationed.

    Iraqi patches Army_s10
ERB, SWAT,CTS, Army,Armor,SF and Spec. ops

    Iraqi patches Police10
    Iraqi Police

    Iraqi patches Novelt10
Novelty patches - Isis Hunting Club, SWAT
The line between "authorized " and "novelty " patches seems to be getting more blurred every year. It seems that the Iraqi's
wear what ever they want now days.

Nice patches Bob. Is the eagle on the Iraqi police SWAT patches influenced by the 101st?

    Jeff,
There are two explanations that I have heard to why the Iraqi's wear the 101st "Screaming Eagle" type patch.
1 - some trained under the 101st and adopted the style.
2 - Richard Engel, an NBC News Correspondent also had an explanation which he gave on a t.v. station. General
Petraeus wore the 101st patch on his right arm and the Iraqi's were so impressed with the results of the surge that
they adopted the 101st Eagle and incorporated it into their own. It can be seen on Police and Army Patches.
Has any one else heard of any thing different?
    Bob
