Hello everybody,

I just receive today morning my Military Motorcycle Helmet II. It's an helmet that was intensively used by Special Forces in their humvees during the beginning of OIF (and certainly OEF) ;





















On these pictures, they SF guys wear all the same helmet, called "Military Motorcycle Helmet-II", made by gentex. Here's manufactury pictures of helmet :

WOW! Where did you find it and if you don't mind telling me, how much did you paid for it?

I found it on ebay for a price I think 'excellent' for that sort of item. I paid it exactly $202,50 without shipping price and custom charges. It can be expensive, but it's only the second one I see for sale and last one was sold (one year ago) for more than $500 (it was a OD green painting, some used and without google lens)...

for the price I get it (around €200 all include), I can only find an ACH/MICH helmet in Europe...so I think it's a good price.

I'm still occupied to retouch other pictures. Please wait a little more... and if you have pictures of SF with this helmet, thanks to share them !

Ok guys, I found motorcycle helmet when I went to the surplus store. It looked as if it was tested for its ballistic protection. It has impact holes and sharpie marker all over it. I apologize in advance for crappy pictures because they were taken from my cell phone. It is for $25 but I didn't make move for it because it is far too damaged and incomplete.

what a disaster Price is not expensive, but when we see condition I understand you didn't buy it...

I understand why you didnt, but I think that I would have bought it and then repaired it.

Perhaps $25 is a good deal but I wouldn't be able to make a display with it, unless I'm a helmet collector who would be interested in expermentional helmets or such so it doesn't have any place in my collection. BUT I'm still in Rhode Island so I can go back to this store if someone is interested in purchasing it for $25 plus shipping.

Not repair the kevlar..repair it cosmetically

Ok, use some sort of filler then sand it down, finally repaint?

I would do that. Use bondo to fill it in and sand and paint.

Alright, I'll buy it then restore it unless it is indeed an experimental model like Arch thought, then I would leave it as it is and sell it instead.

The surface is grainy, similar to cork job on the WWII helmets. How can I make it? Any ideas?

Hmm..thats a good question. Does anyone know what they use nowadays? Not still cork, is it?

Really nice lid,and worthy on anyone's shelf me thinks.....look forward to seeing it in more detail.... I believe the matt paint contains silica particles..

Can you tell us what is write on label on rear of helmet ? There's a Gentex sticker and another white sticker. Do you remember what's write on them ?

But well, for me you'd better no repair it. It's my opinion. this helmet has a story as it...for me this helmet was used for ballistic tests and it's his history.

But well, if you absolutely want to repair...;

- maybe you can add some sand in paint to have this grainy effect ?
- and for radio, you can buy old style headset for pilots. They have the same type of micro arm.
- if you want a lens/visor, they can be found on ebay but they are expensive. They are the same type for majorities of Gentex helmet (HGU-55,...)

But well, as I told you, I think it's better do not repair it because this helmet has his own history as it.

Guys, I bought this helmet. Nope, I won't restore it because it is beyond any repairs.

I found out this helmet is first version (Pierre posted second version), dated 1992.

The sticker says:
