    ACH/MICH helmet cover questions

    What is this flap ?







    I well know these covers, that are really common and I also know this flap that's present on all current helmet cover. But what are these flaps used for ?

    Someone told me it serves for NVG, other guys tell it serves for mask/google elastic,...

    If someone have a concrete idea of the use of this flap, it interess me !

    Pierre,
    I can tell you that it is NOT for the goggles. The two slits on the back of the helmet cover are for two straps (three different colors: tan, green, and grey/foliage) with a button system that holds the goggle strap secure. I guess the flap could be used to secure goggles, but that would be a redundancy.

    I had heard that the flap was for a NVG as well. According to the manual that comes with the helmets, it is a "communication flap".     The picture I am posting shows the slits for the goggle retention straps circled in red.

    Yes, for the googld strap I'll know it. I've all camo in my collection. But it's some guys who tell it...

    And ok, I read the pdf and you've right, it's a communication flap for headset's cables. I never see it really in use with cables, but now I know what is the use of this flap. Thanks !
