Latest find of Iraqi theater made patches

Found these on my trip in Florida. Only the SF skull patch has a Velcro backing.  BTW what are these called when referring to them? The others are 29th ID and 10th MTN Division patches that I est were made pre 2006.  I do not think the Ranger is theater made but has a cut edge and muslin type backing.

I believe this design was worn by the 36th commandos and the advisors of ODA542, with "scouts" added below the skull. This design was copied later on and used by many other troops in Iraq, not only limited to the 36th commandos. This particular says "special forces" in Arabic on the top scroll, and is one of those later reruns as its missing the "scouts" and "36".

Here's a pic i found of a similar patch being worn. I dont remember the source though.

Thanks for the info. I have one of the scout versions and most that I see have a tan background. It would be nice to get the name translated.

Yup! Thats the one. As you can see the scroll has two extra characters, which is arabic for 36. Nice one.

Your Ranger Scroll is not theater made, but it is a nice, rarer variant.  Here is an example of the one I have. There are four I'm aware of: 75th Inf (like yours), 1st, 2d and 3rd Bn's. They were made prior to 9/11. Mark

Nice stuff Tomas.

Some call these "Shell Bursts" using the same terminology as the Vietnam era patches from which these are based (IMO away).  The translation at the top is Special Forces.  Then again, you may have been asking about the name tape.
