Here is some OIF/OEF uniforms that I recently put on display at the school where I teach. The middle schoolers loved it!

Sir, that's a great idea ! At least, it'll teach young people to respect stuff like this !

I remember when I was a young child, when we discussed about WW1 or WW2 in class, the history teacher brough some stuff from these wars. And it gives another view on the history when you've such stuff in front of you. However, out of special events like commemoration ceremonies or history lessons, I don't think it would have been accepted to have military stuff displayed at school.

Very cool display! Any chance you can link to a bigger picture? It'd be cool to read what your signs say.

Also, any chance we can get this into the proper forum? Looks like this is in the U.K. section, though I don't see the U.K. connection. In fact, it looks like there are several threads in this section that are U.S. related but are posted here instead...?

You're right. I just moved it here, it's more appropriate I guess.

Great display. Nice to see not all schools have an adverse reaction when anything military is discussed or shown. Nice of you to take the time to do this.

Good on you for making this part of their lives and making it a tangible thing they can see and touch. Fantastic job.

I'd expect such a statement coming out of Minnesota. When I lived there from 73 thru 87 the state was very anti-military, especially in the schools. Ever since I've put on public shows from 1997 to present the public has been positive. I've been doing school presentations since 2004 and they're always a big hit. Just have to make sure the content is tailored for the different grades.

I remember showing a PRC6 walkie-talkie and the 1st graders thought it was a cell phone or a Special Services hand crank record player and they referred to it as a CD player but couldn't understand why it was so big and would only play one song.

Based on this years Veteran's displays and the number of post Vietnam vets turning out at events, I'm thinking of adding more modern displays that I have items for.

    post nam peace time
    Grenada /Panama
    Somalia/Bosnia
    Desert Storm
    OIF/OEF

My displays are Army heavy. This year I added a WW2 and Nam Marine displays, but I'd like to provide more of the other services but do not want to invest in aviation gear or have just a uniform on a mannequin. I like rigged up displays. Any ideas for a good Navy and Air Force rigged up display that is between Korea and the Post Nam era? Tom
