Afghan wool Pahkul

Along with the garage sale ACH helmet picked up today, I also picked up this "Wollen Pahkul" from the same veteran.  He was stationed at Camp Leatherneck.  For $5 how could i go wrong!

Did a little bit of internet research about the "Chiatrali Bazaar", which amazing has thier own facebook page. Then again, maybe I shouldn't be suprised. What gets me is that if the Pahkul was made in Peshawar Pakistan, then why do they include an outline of Afghanistan and the Afghani flag?

Chitral Bazar is famous for its handmade woollen hats, waistcoats and robes embellished with colourful embroidery, the Chitral bazaar in Peshawar was once a popular tourist haunt. But after the attacks in the US on 11 September 2001, business has gone down in this market by nearly 75% according to shopkeepers. Even after ten years they say they are struggling financially. The security situation in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province remains extremely uncertain and for now these traders have little hope that visitor numbers will recover soon.

Allot of the stuff sold in Afghan Bazaars is made in Pakistan and even China then shipped over for sale mainly to ISAF soldiers, almost a tourist trade!

Haha, interesting!  All they need is to start selling t-shirts "My buddy got deployed to Afghanistan and all I got was this crappy T-shirt"
