be sure I will share it to you on the forum.
I didn't know about this point. I thought that the english soldiers sewn on their badges or patches by a tailor store. I didn't know it was a common feature on Brit clothing.
Thanks for this great information!!!
No worries Will.
I have double checked all my British kit,and like I say,90% have hand sewn Patches, the only pieces I have ever seen with machine sewn patches are, Royal Navy ( and therefore Royal Marines)all the Army kit has sewn on patches, apart from one S95 jacket that has many patches on it, I deeply suspect this one was sewn up in theatre in Iraq.
Again I fully appreciate that this doe'nt help to fully authenticate an item, but I am convinced that nobody would relly go to the effort of faking an item by sewing on patches,as you can buy them so cheap on ebay anyway with patches already on them.
In fact the vast majority of my Brit desert clothing ,was bought for a couple of quid and they were already patched up...the irony is,that Brit TRF patches are more expensive to buy on their own, than buying a garment with patches already on it!!!!
Point in case, let's say it costs £ 5.00 for a genuine MOD issued TRF patch...I've paid less than that for a jacet with a TRF already sewn on
British Desert kit is full of mysteries that's for sure
