    Desert Cam,but which country?

Post by AndyD on Tue Jul 24, 2012 6:28 am

I picked this up last week from a guy who had worked in Afghanistan and Iraq.
He was attached to UK and US forces.

It looks like DPM,is it the British DPM that was sold to Iraq?

Looks like something would have issued to Kuwait or Saudi Arabia troops.

I concur with UAE; I see on camopedia that UAE used a variation of the DPM Desert colors/pattern, and since the gear looks very very much like ALICE LC-1 gear, I would venture to say UAE kit as well. (the Royal Dutch Army /KLM also used Lc style gear with green DPM pattern, and 3 color US camo pattern for one of their vests, but I have yet to see the LC style pouches in 3-color US colors)

Camodeafie,I have a set of LC style pouches in 3 colour, after some extensive research I discovered they are a commercial brand ( which for the life of me I can't remember now) that subcontracts kit out to the highest bidder and I believe to individuals who want a bespoke webbing set up e.g Dare I say "SF types", exactly as Arktis do, these companies are based very locally to me.

Sorry Andy , I missed your second question first time around, the Brits did not supply any camo webbing to the Iraqis, as at the time they were using their own version of the venerable 58 pattern webbing.I believe camo webbing was not around of this nature in '91, your set looks like '03 onwards to me.Great pick up mate, congrats.

really. I've never seen the LC camo pouches other than the bright green woodland ones from Rothco, and the set above. I almost bought a dutch tac vest that had the 2" webbing on it and it was in 3 color desert, but didnt have access to any LC pouches of the same pattern or khaki, except for the tan 2 qt canteen cover.
