Karkh Area Command Strike Force Insignia

Post by kriegsmodell on Fri Apr 27, 2012 9:56 am

Attached below is a patch dating from the 2010-11 Operation New Dawn period for the Karkh Area Command Strike Force (KSF). The KSF is an Iraqi Army Special Forces unit, formed in late 2009 with responsibilities for quick response operations for Multi-National Division, Baghdad (MND-B) west of the Tigris River. The Strike Force was formed from collaborations between Iraqi Staff General Ali Hamadi (then Karkh Area Commander) and US Brigadier General Frederick Rudesheim, (then deputy commanding general for support MND-B). This patch was worn along with the standard Iraqi Army Special Forces insignia (round with parachute over bird head). I only recently received this patch from a friend with 5th SFG(A) who was an advisor to the unit during OND. The patch is well made and backed with black velcro.
