Yea, you probobly know that there is a velcro strip for the tapes and if you didn't want to keep it original, you could add either the name tape with blood type on them or the small ir blood types. You can find the ir ones here: http://www.1800nametape.com/infrared.htm

I dont think SF would wear patches on this type of modded jacket.

I would suggest some IR US flag patches (one on each shoulder). On the velcro over the sleeve pockets Id suggest an IR callsign placard patch (one each side), or an IR callsign placard patch on one side and some theater made SOF patch on the other.

If you wanted to make a ranger look to it, put on OD tapes and rank.

I'll look. I don't have any ranger jackets. The only modified dcu I own is an SF one similar to yours without velcro for the tapes. It has SFC. rank pins and ir blood type too Very Happy

Here is a topic Jeremy did on modified dcu's and bdu's. It shows the different types of them including ranger and SF. http://oefoif.forumotion.net/t726-modified-dcu-iding-thread

    Best of luck, Nick

Oh boy, I need to go back to this thread and update it. I've forgetten about this project. Thanks for reminding me of this thread, coolcav!

Rangers were very standardized even for modified DCU's. This DCU is not Ranger's so I wouldn't recommend OD green tapes and ranks. But the IR flags are good go for this DCU.

There was another member, if I recall correctly, Alexd from Italy, has quite a few of nice 173rd modified DCUs which he had found in Italy.

For some reason, 173rd Airborne DCU's are highly sought after by collectors. I have always though it might be due to the fact they made a combat jump into Iraq in 2003.

    Nice modified DCU, Blue Devil!
