Coyote tan knee pads with black shells

Post by Mercenary25 on Fri May 27, 2011 4:39 pm

Not sure which it is, Army or USMC. Even if both. I believe Army used coyote tan knee pads briefly during the transition of DCU to ACU. According to another forum (IACMC) that this is Army version because USMC version is all coyote brown. However this another forum members are not exactly speciality in OEF/OIF like us.

Enough with rambling, here is a picture of mine. I just found it in the surplus store. One is more heavily used than another probably from kneeling position. They still have desert sand/dirt on them.

Hmm, sounds like all the WW2 "experts" proclaiming that and dit was 101st, 506th, E-Company only because of the colour used, or that the USMC never wore anything without it's name on it in capital letters.

no, that's usmc ! Some Army soldiers also used them...but some marines also used DAPS for their OTV...but initialy, they are made for marines ! The difference of color (black or brown) changes nothing ! (Like the big majorities of items in coyote brown...)

If I remember correctly, manufacturer is Bijang (or something like that) and they also exist for elbows.

Both, branches used them. Heck, we even gave a whole container full to our Iraqi Battalion. I will see what pics, if any I have of myself or others in my team using them. I still have a pretty new pair lying around the house somewhere.

    EDIT....
Here are a couple pics showing the brown and black being used. These were issued Stateside before we deployed. Of course, we also picked up other kinds while in country.
