Post by TNFISTER on Wed Feb 16, 2011 11:59 pm

HEY GUYS. I picked this up with a lot of foreign patches last week. I know enough that its a helmet cover patch for the 101st Airorne Div. 503rd? not sure. Can anybody answer 2 questions?
what does the E mean? and is this US or theater made? the back doesnt look US made to me. and there is no merrowed edge, its a cut edge.
yall's comments and thoughts are welcome!

E stands for engineer. The spade represents the 327th Infantry Regiment or the 1st Brigade Combat Team (BCT) “Bastogne" of the 101st Airborne Division. This patch would be worn by a Soldier in that Engineer Company in 327, I think in the special troops battalion.

Now is it real, I don't know. There were many different producers of helmet patches. You can see different ones being worn in the same unit. It depends if the Soldiers were issues them, or they bought their own. I'll have to look at mine, and see if I have any like this.
